A youthful looking Recs 'A' ran riot in their opening fixture of the season against a much more experienced opposition in a sun baked Rochdale.
From the kick off Recs tore into the homesters with a brand of free flowing rugby utilising the pace of young guns Wilson who contributed 24 points, Gravener, Smith and Duffy and soon had control of the game.
The Recs pack worked tirelessly against a much bigger Mayfield pack with Sam Edwards putting in a good shift at prop and Colin Rogers acting as the enforcer as he was sent to the sin-bin twice.
However Rogers actions seemed to put the home side on the back foot which allowed Recs half backs the opportunity to really take the game to Mayfield with skipper Fairhurst and Bostock constantly probing.
At half time the game was still anyones at 6-18 however Recs never looked in danger of losing the contest and seemed to be able to score at will with Burns racing 60 metres to touch down under the posts and youngster Duffy finishing off a fine Pilks move which started in there own half.
As the game approached the final minutes Pilks took there foot off the gas and let Mayfield in for a couple of consolation tries. All in all it was a good afternoon for Pilks 2nd string winning 14-52 with good performances throughout the team as they signalled their intentions to be in the mix for promotion come the end of the season.
Players MOM was awarded to Ben Gravener with the opponents MOM going to captain Andy Fairhurst.
