| Rylands 4 Pilkington Recs 74 |
01 January 2009
A SCINTILATTING attacking display saw Recs rattle in 14 tries as they crushed Rylands.
Star man was red hot centre Nigel Pratt who registered another hat-trick to take his try tally to eight
in three games, while full back Mark Ashton also bagged three to end his seven-match scoring drought.
With hooker Peter Cahalin and stand off Ryan Rogers at the heart of Pilks’ attack the tries flowed, with John Rees and Ashton crossing early on.
Further tries followed for Pratt, Rogers (2) and Neil Morris, with three Ste Rawsthorne goals leaving the score 30-0 at the break.
Recs gave a debut to new signing Andy Rawsthorne - brother of Recs skipper Ste - and he showed some promising touches as the procession continued.
With substitute forwards Mike Loughlin and Andy Burns steamrolling the opposition Pilks were dominant, and Ste Rawsthorne crashed over for a brace, while a confident Ashton zipped in for two more to complete his hat-trick.
Pratt and his winger Mark Rigby simultaneously touched down on a loose ball - with the latter finally getting the nod as tryscorer.

But there was still time for the silky-skilled centre to score twice more, while little scrum half Danny Lynch also powered over.
Rawsthorne added six more conversions, though Recs did blot their copybook late on by letting in a try.
Rogers was the Commhoist man of the match while Pratt claimed the C&S Tyres players’ player of the match.
