Pilks A  24-26 Higginshaw

07-Nov-09

Pilks cruelly lost this tough fixture after conceding a debatable try in the last tackle of the match.

Higginshaw started well with two early tries.

As Pilks tried to force the ball out in attack, an eighty metre interception gave Higginshaw a 16-0 lead.

Ben Gravener finished off a good move to lift Pilks spirts before half time.

Pilks scored early in the second half through Greg Waine after some good play between Andy Parr and Barry Pope, but Higginshaw scored again after a mistake from winger Waine to stretch their lead to 20-12.

Pilks fought back and a try from Pope put Higginshaw within striking distance.

With just five minutes remaining Pope somehow offloaded to Daz Considine who scored in the corner.  Pope converted from the touchline to surely win the game for Pilks.

Then with the last play of the game Higginshaw kicked through the middle and scrambled the ball over the line to take the spoils.

Best for Pilks was Stand off Parr, Centre Pope and impressive debutant Adam Reynolds .
